Display of Reports under My Data

Embedding a Report in Web Pages

You can embed any report in a web page. From the report view, click on the export button, then click on the Embed button. This action opens up the embed window, showing you a snippet of HTML code. You can plug in values for width and height to customize the embedded display. Copy this HTML and paste it into any other page to display the report remotely.

Embedding a Report as a Basecamp Message

If you want to add a report to your Basecamp page, you can export a report as described above. Create a new Message in Basecamp. Change the editor over to the "Format text with Textile/HTML codes." Paste in the HTML from the embed window and save the message. You can use this functionality to display any report in the context of Basecamp.

You can apply this functionality to project templates inside of Basecamp as well. If you open up a Project Template in the Templates tab, you can add Messages at that template level to apply a report that will in turn display with each project.

Creating a User Dashboard

Sample custom dashboard

You can create a single dashboard view for your users so that they have a simplified user experience with Easy Insight. When a user logs into the system, he or she will see a particular fixed dashboard rather than having to navigate through the system as normal.

The first step is to actually define your dashboard. To customize the look and feel as you see in the screenshot to the left, start by defining a new dashboard with a grid size of 1x1 and add a Stack to the grid. As part of the Stack configuration, upload a header image (something in the 1000x100 dimension size works well) and set up a background color for the area to the left and right of the header image. Add the actual dashboard contents from there--whatever grids, reports, and scorecards you want to assemble to create the actual user content.

Once the dashboard is defined, you can assign the dashboard to the user as part of the user administration process. When you create or edit a user, you can set up a "fixed dashboard." Assign the dashboard you created and the user will be automatically logged into that dashboard, rather than the normal Easy Insight user interface.
